The growing and complex world of pharmacy is focusing more and more on subjects like med adherence, specialty, mail order, reimbursements, and compliance -- Zach understands these issues and knows how to navigate them in the IDN setting all while ensuring unmatched patient support. He is dedicated to ensuring operations are smooth and efficient while aligned to strategic initiatives.
Zach has served as Director of Specialty Pharmacy for an $18b IDN with nearly 100 acute facilities serving a quarter of the US geography where he was responsible for the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational management of Specialty Pharmacy Operations. In this position he was responsible for hiring, coaching, mentoring and appraising the performance of employees; establishing multi-year strategic and annual operating plans; planning, assigning, and directing initiatives in support of the operating plan; and addressing operational and quality improvement initiatives. He has been successful in leading the build outs and payor contracting of Specialty Pharmacy operations for two multi-facility health systems and implementing the policies, procedures, and workflows necessary to obtain URAC and ACHC Accreditation for each.
Zach values the need to ensure high cost therapies are utilized effectively in the outpatient setting to improve patients’ quality of life, addressing the needs of Specialty Pharmacy drug manufacturers and payors, and maintaining organizational regulatory and Accreditation compliance to reduce risk. He is motivated by the positive experience and outcomes patients have when Specialty Pharmacy therapies are used appropriately and the impact it has on their lives.
Zach also works as a surveyor/inspector for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Butler University and an MBA in Finance from Ball State. He lives in Roanoke, Indiana, and spends his free time collecting and listening to vinyl records, hunting, hiking, and traveling.
